It began as a test to see how light scatters within a smoke volume but I couldn’t resist having some fun with it. Rendered using brute force GI and light emitting materials. The render times were vomit-inducing and long thanks to the brute force GI. Thinkbox Deadline made it barely possible by separating each frame into 25 tiles and rendering them all as separate tasks. Even with that – there were 400 frames. That’s 10,000 tasks! It was gross. But it’s so smooooth.
